Meriel was born in North Wales, grew up in Chester, Trained at The RADA in London and eventually settled in Manchester.

She has worked extensively for over 30 years in Theatre, TV, Film, Radio, Audio and Corporate.

She has appeared in all the major soaps over the years, with several episodes in CORONATION STREET, 3 series of LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX as School secretary Beverly, and a couple of stints in Doctors. She is frequently cast as a Member of the Medical Profession, Psychiatrists, Speech Therapists, GPs, in shows ranging from Hollyoaks to Casualty, The Royal, Courtroom and Holby City.

Her Theatre work includes Tours, West End, Repertory and Site-Specific appearing in productions such as Twelfth Night: Hull Truck Theatre Co, Sgt Musgraves Dance: Old Vic London, Making the Future: Oxford Stage Co, Young Vic London, A Midsummer Night’s Dream/Julius Caesar: Storyhouse Theatre, Chester. With seasons at York, Hull, Lancaster, Stoke, Manchester.

Meriel also voices audio books and has done for the past nine years.
