Starting his career on the West End stage, Matthew played the title role of BILLY in ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’ at the age of 12. Since then, he became a First Soloist at the Northern Ballet company, where he danced in lead roles, nationally and internationally, such as ROMEO in ‘Romeo & Juliet’, BRUNO in ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ and most recently, MERLIN in Olivier Award-winning choreographer Drew McOnie’s production of ‘Merlin’.

After lockdown, Matthew decided to hang up his ballet shoes and pursue a career in film and television. Since then, he has filmed the Take That movie musical ‘Greatest Days’, Universal’s feature film ‘Wicked’, BBC’s ‘Waterloo Road’, BBC One’s ‘Everything I Know About Love’, BBC 3’s Domino Day’, and a recurring role in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Kaos’. He’s excited to see where things might take him next!

But a go-to headshot can only go so far in helping an actor get more castings. Sometimes a casting director cannot visualise an actor’s suitability for a part from their go-to headshot alone.
